PLEASE READ: My wife and I were disappointed with the reception regarding their banquet hall at their counterpart Hawk Hollow. It was 76 degrees inside the room according to the thermostat and the AC was set at 65 and there was "nothing else they could do" according to the manager. People were visibly sweating early in the night and not due to "dancing and alcohol" as we were explained to be the reason by staff who was also sweating... It was 74 degrees with a light breeze outside. They also sprung that they were going to need IDs for the champagne toast 10 minutes before the bridal party entered to do the toast. A little heads up on this would have been appreciated because not many women carry a purse with an ID when in a dress taking bridal party pictures right before the reception. This caused an unnecessary scramble to cars with keys and calling spouses already inside the reception who had their counterparts ID. Ryan explained he "didn't want to be the guy to ruin the champagne toast, but he needed ID's" I explained he was being "that guy" and that they could have ID'd an hour earlier, the day before at rehearsal, or at least mentioned the bridal party would be ID'd prior to the champagne toast to make sure we brought our IDs into the reception. Then nobody within the reception was ID'd at the bar...makes sense. He acted like the entire wedding was a calculated ploy to sneak an underage person champagne.
We had ordered 20 pizzas for a late night snack. Later in the night, many people had already left as they had 2 hour drives home. Ryan asked if we still wanted them to make all 20 pizzas or only 8 as the crowd was clearing out. I said 8 will do. We were still charged for all 20 and when I called to inquire about the $204 for the other 12 pizzas they explained that they couldn't reimburse us because they had to buy that food to be prepared. I asked what happened to the other 12 pizzas then because if I knew that was the case I gladly would have sent 12 pizzas home with guest rather than donate them for a future wedding that they will then have double charged for, or donate them to the "Ryan pizza fund" which is what probably happened. I inquired about this because we were given an updated invoice because we added 2 guest after we had already paid. We also had a few guest not show up. I was fine paying the extra $71 for the extra 2 guest, but found it ironic that they are worried about charging for the extra two guest but not worried about letting us send the extra buffet food prepared for the people that didn't show up and the additional $204 of pizzas they had, but never made, home with guests. I am sure the extra food went home with staff rather than in the trashcan. Which is fine, but I'm sure administration is aware of this which is why I find it funny they would be worried about holding a $14,373 wedding bill to the grindstone of 2 extra people given the factors mentioned above.
Later in the night, one of the toilets in the women's restroom overflowed and made the restroom unusable. We notified staff and it took at least 45 minutes for someone to stick a note on the door that said, "please use the downstairs restroom." This incident happened later in the evening well after dinner and the late night pizza when you would assume staff was not as busy. It would have taken me 30 seconds to put a note on the door, but I assumed it wouldn't take them 45 minutes. Maybe Ryan was busy auctioning off 12 pizzas to his friends, I don't know.
To top it off, at the end of the night, Ryan proceeded to enlighten us that the lady who delivered the cake had also delivered the cake for my grandma's 80th birthday party the next day and it had been sitting under the cake table which had a linen hanging over it making it unvisible this whole time and he is not sure if it is still good to eat. This is generally good information to bring up at any point within the previous 7 hours prior to him thinking the cake is beyond saving. Maybe he was hoping he could get a free cake to go with his 12 pizzas,...
