I had high hopes for this place. There was good reviews and by the looks of the pictures I thought I was making a good choice. First thing I thought when pulling in was, “Are they closed?”. There was only 1 car, and I saw a tent, and it looked like a wedding reception was going to happen in there. Me and my friends walked in and only two people where drinking. We were greeted by a lovely lady. She told us how it worked and we chose our wine. She told us we could sit anywhere, so we proceeded to another room, a very, very low lighted empty room. After sitting down and chatting for a little our wine came out.. we were not a fan. There wasn’t a wine that I personally had that I was crazy about. I was prepared to buy a bottle or two of wine and I didn’t even like the little bit of wine I tasted. The sample portions are very very small. I had 6 little (smaller than shot sized tasting). Collectively it was one serving size of wine. Every winery is different but this is something I didn’t like it. I did like that you received a glass souvenir. I went on a Saturday around 2:30-3 and only two people where there. We were there for only 30 minutes before we decided we wanted to leave. I just can’t believe no one was there especially on a Saturday.
I’m only giving a two stars because the staff was really friendly and...
Read moreDecided to see this vineyard on the way back home from Asheville. Cypress Bend Vinyard is about 20 minutes inland from Rt 74, but worth the drive! The entrance is very nice, and you'll pass just some of their vineyards in addition to a large tented area. Inside a nice reception area awaits. We were greated by Lisa and soon began tasting their award winning wines, many had won multi-year first place awards and one best of show for a national contest. Many of their wines were named after the descendants of the land/vinyards. They specialize in muscadine grapes, Carlos, Noble and Magnolla, producing 16 table wines!
Upon arrival we were told many wines were already sold out, and new batches not yet bottled. It was fine though, we sampled a several flights of white, red, and Rose wines from dry to sweet, and even a peach wine that tasted more like a real peach, then a wine, which we bought. Also purchased their In A Canoe wine and their To-Morrow wine. Lisa and Makayla provided the histories of each and shared their personnal favorites with us. They also ship their products on their website. Having visited many vinyards, it is rare we like any wines (even at the Biltmore) but today bought 4 different varieties! About 1½ hours away from me, will probably return with a packed lunch for some more...
Read moreWell folks , I usually don't like to post bad reviews but , I want everyone to know before you go out of your way trudging through the back woods of north carolina to find this vineyard . My wife and I go try different places such as this , it was a 235 mile trip one way for us . They have NO FOOD on site . The place was empty when we arrived . We know why I think . We met with the only person working, as we walked into this tiny room . She was very pleasant. We told her from the very start that , we DO NOT LIKE DRY OR SE.I DRY WINES . About 4 times . To do the wine tasting you must pay $6.00 per person. Then you can pick 2 flights . We are still unsure what she is indicating to us . So she starts pouring into this tiny plastic cup some wine , starts describing it as she goes . I ask what have we here ? She states this is a ... you got it DRY WINE . Save yourself the hassle, we have many more great wineries in north carolina . I still have not sipped any sweet wines here yet 😕. Thumbs down...
