Several habitats: woodland, field, and marsh. Some hills and sandy areas. Great views of the marsh towards the Coast Guard Station and towards the ocean. Good birding spot at the right time of day. Interesting sharpening rock with interpretive signs (and benches). A trail spur starting near the big glacial erratic rock (it's bigger than you) skirts the marsh and isn't marked (may not be part of the actual trail), so if you take it, look to turn right to head near the upper parking lot when you get to the split, or you'll just end up in marsh. Swamp trail is a side trip. If you start from the Capt. Penniman area parking lot and take the swamp trail, when you get to the fork, take the right fork to travel the spur, then retrace steps and take the left fork to make the circle and rejoin the Fort Hill Trail. There will be a bathroom halfway around the swamp trail (at the other entrance to the...

NO PETS! except if you have pets on leash depending on which sign you read.

We brought our dog, planned to walk around the loop and saw it was a “Pet Free” park. BUT, observed several people with their dogs and signage indication that one could walk their dog… Beautiful park though. Well maintained boardwalk except for a recent hole from a fallen branch.

Recommendations- 1- please update all signs to reflect whichever policy it is (pets or no pets) 2- ensure that websites and google maps identifies that this is a non pet friendly trail. 3- put some signs up letting folks know there is a giant hole in the...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fort Hill Trail – A Hidden Gem in Cape Cod

What an incredible experience! We visited Fort Hill Trail today and were absolutely enchanted by its natural beauty. The air was crisp and refreshing, the landscape pristine, and the views—simply breathtaking.

It’s a peaceful, uncrowded spot that offers everything from scenic ocean overlooks to quiet trails perfect for walking, relaxing, or even kayaking nearby. The gentle breeze and coastal charm made it feel like a true escape from the everyday.

Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility, nature, and a touch of...

This is a great find based on a recommendation from a park ranger at the Salt Pond Visitor Center. What amazing views of Cape Cod from it's best vantage point. My family and I then took advantage of walking the trails, Skiff Hill and the Red Maple Swamp, to see the marshes and swamp. The trail above the swamp was a different experience because without it one would not be able to view swamps that close. It was a bit scary at times because the water was almost the same level as the man-made trail. An awesome experience.
