The beginning of this trail is absolutely beautiful, it seemed like we were venturing through a lush green enchanted forest. Everything was so green. We stopped at the flume on our way up, it's very cool and a short easy trip off the path, the ascent was easier than anticipated. Although the views at the summit weren't spectacular they didn't disappoint. We made our way to South Kinsman as well, again it was easier than anticipated. There is much more room there to stop and take a break for a bit. We made our way back down and veered off to Bald Peak, I'm so glad we didn't skip it! It was another short hike to get there, the breeze at the peak was just what we needed! The rest of the trip back down was easy going. We didn't encounter many hikers until we got up to the ridge. This hike is easily in my top 3.

Awesome trail system! Hit both north and south Kinsman 😎👌 wound up being a 10.5 mile round trip because we hit the bluff down at the bottom, which was cool to see the summits from down below, adds about a mile or so but more worthwhile views!! The day I went up it was a little brisk, stepped off and it was minus 17 degrees out 🥶 but once we were moving it really wasn't bad at all! It apparently (according to my truck thermometer) hit a high of 16! 🤣 It was a super clear day with no wind either! Which is almost unheard of in the White Mountains!! But good clearly marked trails from what I could tell (I was following the guys in the group I hike with up there so I wasn't honestly paying that much attention to them.. lol), but as always an awesome experience up there!!

Lovely leg-stretcher of a hike. Trail was good, well-marked. A couple of stream crossings , but nothing overwhelming. Parking lot is adequate, tends to fill up early, but there are two different peaks accessed from parking lot, so trail was quieter than anticipated. Interesting to see the abandoned “sugar shack”. Views from Bald Peak are very nice, excellent place for a picnic. Highly recommend if you aren’t in the market for a challenging hike.

Great trail. Medium to challenging depending on your fitness level. If you go all the way to Bald Peak, be prepared to spend 3 hours, at least. The view is worth it on a clear day. It's spectacular! As ever, be prepared for weather changes as you hike. We started out dry, had rain a quarter away up, then clear, then some flurries and finally sun. Fairly cool at the top. We hiked on October 26th. Warm coat, hat, gloves and rain jacket were all useful. This trail gets very rooty and rocky, esp as you climb higher. It's easy to trip, so take your time and save some energy for the way back. It was not busy for us. I think it's much less visited...
