Carhan Farm — Attraction in Eatonton

I went with my family and 2 other families (there were four kids from ages 2-6). We met with Tom to see the farm and to get some beef. The kids and adults all really loved the visit. We got to meet and feed the cows, as well. That was all the kids talked about the rest of the day! He spoke a lot about the farm and how the work is performed. At the end of our tour, he let us stay to look at the cows and pick up pecans that had fallen, if we wanted. He brought out all kinds of tools to help with the "chore" and the kids really enjoyed running around to "help on the farm". It turned out to be a pretty big day and all of the kids napped FOR HOURS after, which all of the parents really appreciated. We ended up buying New York Strip, Ground Beef, and Rump Roast. We have cooked a little bit of all of the meat and it has really been great. Very tender and flavorful. If you are in the market for beef, I would recommend everyone to go visit and pick some up while you are there. We have been looking to purchase grass fed beef after reading about the health benefits that grass feed beef provides over the grain fed beef. My family and I met Tom and he gave us a farm tour and explained how he is using stainable farming to raise the cows. We purchased a few sample packs of the grass fed beef and cooked them at home. The quality meat was delicious! We arranged with Tom to order a whole grass feed cow and only had to wait a couple weeks to get one processed. It was a very short lead time compared to other farms and the prices were very affordable. Our cow weighed just under 500lbs and we ended up with about 250lbs of meat. We requested the fat to make beef tallow with and they accommodate that request with no problem. Tom was very easy to work with and even sent us a cut sheet ahead of time and ask if we wanted to make any changes.

I found this farm searching for grass-fed beef in Georgia. I think I've found a go-to farm for getting high-quality beef! I ordered a half cow and drove 2 hours to pick it up. Totally worth it. Tom and Alex are very nice and even gave me a tour of their property. I can tell they take care of their animals and their land. The beef looks rich in color and I even got to keep the organs.
