I grew up sledding at Pinehurst Hill during the winter and playing in the woods there in the summers; I wouldn't trade what that was for me as a kid for anything...except for what Pinehurst Park is now! Sledding there now is far safer than it ever was. There are trails for mountain biking, a really cool playground for kids, and ice skating in the winter. And, most recently, there is a brand-spanking-new disc golf course! The first few holes remind me of playing at Tower Ridge, and the course ends with far more open holes. Read moreIn the winter there is; a sweet steep sledding hill. With a separate hill for snow boards. There's 2 ice skating rinks. One for hockey and one for recreational ice skating. A fire pit to warm up by with some seating. An enclosed, heated pavilion to get out of the wind. Heard something about hot chocolate but haven't checked that out yet. In the summer there are some tougher up hill biking trails. Or walking if your up for it. The trails are a real challenge probably not for kids under 10-12. Read moreWent mid-January for some sledding with my 4 year old. The hill was pretty icy since it was about 20° out and it hasn't snowed in over a week but other than the difficulty trying to get up the icy hill pulling the daughter on a sled she had a blast so it was all worth it.
I wish they had some stairs to help with the ascent but even without it's fun for all ages.
They also have an ice hockey rink and a open skate ice area, I wish we had some skates. They had a fire going and also a warming hut. Pretty...
