Yesterday I was at a really fun antique/thrift store in Great Barrington Ma and I came upon this gorgeous glazed bowl. I picked it up, I put it down, walked around, picked it up and just said, yup gotta get it. When I arrived home in Lowell MA, I picked up bowl and when I turned it over, a huge smile came to my face - it has the Edgecomb Potters signature on it. AHHHHH. So, I first was turned on to Edgecomb Potters by a very dear friend, Ingeborg "Inky" MacDougall, who had a little house on a body of water in Nobleboro Maine, in or around 1980, when she took me to this little red school house in Edgecomb. She introduced me to the owner, who had the most beautiful eyes, was so handsome and so so nice to boot. He showed me all around the place, outside where? the kiln was. As I looked around I was in awe of the creations before me. The glazes - so unique and so amazing. That day I went I think it was kind of a little room in back where the "seconds" were kept. I purchased the gorgeous pitcher shown below as well as a few dinner plates, a few bowls and a vase in the same "family". They have been my treasures for 40 years. I googled Edgecomb Potters and then see how they have grown and peruse website to look at the stunning glazes once again. Wondering if that fellow still owns it, googled a little more and learned of his passing, big giant tears when I saw the obituary and the short video posted on blog shortly before his death. A very unique and talented man who made a deep impression on this girl. May he rest in peace and may his legacy live on and continue to bring big smiles to...
Read moreMy family and I stopped at the Edgecomb location of Edgecomb Potters while we were visiting Maine as I have several of their pieces, already. The showroom had lovely pieces displayed with multiple shelves of different designs and there were racks of "seconds" on the patio. After spending time selecting the perfect pieces to add to our collection, we opted to have the items shipped home. Unfortunately, two of the four items shipped were not the ones I selected but rather very obvious seconds with significant defects that I would have never purchased. I reached out to Edgecomb with pictures and had no success in exchanging my items for the correct ones. They were demeaning in their response and unwilling to help. If you stop to shop, please take your items with you as you will not receive what you purchased if you opt to ship. Very disappointing and a complete...
