Came down to check it out after a recommendation and we were not disappointed!
We live in Baltimore and it was an easy 45 minute drive. There's a 6$ fee to enter by vehicle or the option for year long passes, the gentleman at the entrance booth was very helpful and gave us a map then highlighted where the beach was located - he also gave our pups some treats!
The beach is small and the perfect size for pups to run and play in the water. It IS NOT completely fenced in but our boys were so occupied with playing that they didn't try to run off. There's a fence along the marsh line and rock jetty's in the water to break big waves.
After they played at the beach we took them up to the dog park which was nice as well - big and open, some good shade and water for the pups.
Highly recommend, a fun way to spend a summer day...
Read moreWe had so much fun at the dog beach! There are rocky barriers at the sides of the water so dogs stay in one area. The entrance of the beach is a fenced gate with a fence on the back and other sides to keep dogs contained. If your dog is sneaky they could still escape but normal dogs would have no problem! It was fairly busy when we were there but we still had plenty of space for our dogs to run around and play. We had no issues with other dogs/fights while we were there. The walk to the dog beach from the parking lot is a little longer than we expected but it wasn't bad, we just carried things longer than we had anticipated so if you have a bunch of stuff, maybe bring a wagon or something. There is no seating for humans at the beach. I will be bringing a beach chair next time. Overall awesome time! We will...
Read moreNot to miss if you have a dog in this area. My dog sitter cancelled last minute and I had a one year old goofy pup with me on vacation. So I had to scramble to find dog friendly activities. My dog has never been to a beach or dog park. I'm always wary of dog parks but am so glad I tried this one based on reviews.
We went around 9:30 a.m. on a weekday. There were about 4 other dogs there at one point and we ended up there alone by the end of our visit. The beach (sand and water) was clean, there were no agressive dogs, and other humans were polite. Dogs could run, swim or chill. Someone spotted a water snake but it quickly left and I think they are harmless. A nice amenity is a hose/sprayer to hose down your dog near the bathrooms/parking lot.
We'd definitely return if in...
