I grew up here. A little history; When we moved to El Cerrito in the late 50's, this was a big pond with a derelict house sort of sinking into it. There was a horse stable at the bottom of the hill up against Arlington Blvd. which burned down in 1959 or '60. Before Camp Herms was built above this park in the 1930's there was a rock quarry that sent carts of gravel through the current park area and under Arlington and down the hill alone Moser. You can still see the tracks under Arlington at the sharp curve (unless they have been removed). Lots of good times there catching snakes and other critters in the pond and playing in the new park. Either your kid goes in the bushes and people look down at that sort of thing or toy rush your kid to a bathroom that's open and liable to soil their pants.
