San Pablo Reservoir Oaks Picnic Area — Attraction in El Cerrito

I used the Oaks Picnic Area for my work's summer party. We needed a location that would be somewhat central to people from all over the Bay Area and Sacramento and this worked out great. The area is secluded from the main part of the recreation area and has plenty of dedicated parking, but the parking is about a 0.25 mile walk to the picnic site. It also has its own restrooms, BBQ pits, horseshoe pit, volleyball net, and plenty of tables/benches. I wasn’t too impressed with this picnic area. It was very crowded, and the loud music from multiple groups made it hard to relax. The smell of gas or petrol from the grills was also overwhelming at times. It might work for larger, lively gatherings, but if you’re looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy nature, this probably isn’t the best choice.
