I haven't visited the Visitor Center except to pay the daily fee for the Franklin Mountains State Park, but it's always clean with modern bathrooms, and has very friendly staff. It hasn't been busy or crowded any time that I have been (5+ times) and I've gone back in Spring and now in Summer, on both weekend and weekday.
I haven't tired purchasing the park pass online but I hear that is a good option.
Also, for the trails that far away from the visitor center where there is a drop box with paper forms where you put one copy of the form and the $5/person. I've used that...
Read moreI didn't actually walk on any trails, but I was able to drive as far as the Mundy Gap parking location. I went there to meet my grandson, who was on a hike with JROTC. What I did see of the trails did intrigue me, & my grandson informs me, they are good to hike. I can say good things about the Visitor's Center; lots of "local", pertinent information, a variety of drinks & snacks, as well as souvenirs.
