Johnson Beach in Perdido Key, Florida is truly one of the best-kept secrets on the Emerald Coast. This beach is quiet, peaceful, and always clean, which makes it ideal for families who want a safe and relaxing environment without the crowds. The natural dunes, white sand, and calm Gulf waters create a picture-perfect setting that’s both kid-friendly and inviting for anyone looking to enjoy a day by the ocean.

What makes Johnson Beach even more special is its unbeatable location. It’s within minutes of Big Lagoon State Park, the Intracoastal Waterway, and all of the restaurants, shopping, and conveniences in Perdido Key. Whether you want to paddleboard, kayak, fish, or simply soak in the view, the proximity to both the Gulf and the Lagoon gives you endless options.

As a local resident, this was one of the biggest reasons we chose to live in Perdido Key. Having Johnson Beach in your backyard isn’t just a perk—it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Families, retirees, and even investors looking for Pensacola real estate love the balance this area offers: a quiet beach that feels private yet still close to downtown Pensacola, Orange Beach, and the rest of the Gulf Coast.

If you’re searching for family-friendly beaches in Florida that combine natural beauty with convenience, Johnson Beach is a must-visit. It’s not just a vacation destination—it’s one of the main reasons people fall in love with the idea of living on the...

I was so disappointed with the experience today at Johnson Beach. I arrived early in the day expecting to enjoy the shoreline, but ended up sitting in my vehicle for 1.2 hours in a long, unmoving line just to get in. Some of my family members made it in earlier, but others were stuck in line for up to 3 hours and never made it through.

Eventually, the entrance was shut down at 2 PM, with park staff saying the beach had reached full capacity , even though the beach itself still had plenty of open space. The problem wasn’t overcrowding on the beach, it was the lack of parking that made it impossible for more guests to enter.

We had to pay $25 just to wait in a long line, only to be told to turn around. In the end, our entire group had to leave because we couldn’t even be together.

There needs to be a much better system , whether it’s expanded parking, shuttle service, or timed/reservation-based entry. The beach is beautiful, but this experience was frustrating, disorganized, and unfair for paying guests. I truly hope...

The seashore is beautiful, The park is beautiful, the management suffers greatly! We googled and found out a local church was hosting an Easter Sunrise Service on Johnson Beach located in the park as they have done for the past 24 years. However, this year without notice to anyone the park ranger started charging a full day entrance fee of $25 per car to get into the park. We ended up sitting in a line for 45 minutes. The toll gate was the only hold up. One park ranger collecting car per car. The service was delayed when the staff found out what was going on and we still only got to enjoy the last prayer. Since when did our national park service get so hard up for money that they had to start charging $25 per car for an hour of use of the park? It’s so sad to watch the decay of this country. Billions of dollars sent to other countries but our own people get nothing. Our religious freedom is under attack. Wake up America, before...

I love going to the beach here. The first spot has bathrooms, a lifeguard, and showers. If you go down further you have parking across the road from the beach and it's more peaceful. During the week, it's usually less than ten families set up. You can set up whatever tent or canopy you want. We have enjoyed our week going here. There is a ice machine right before entering the park along with some food trucks. The fee is $25 to enter and that gives you 1-7 day access or you can do an annual pass for $45 and of course they honor the national park passes. The first day we saw dolphins and then the jellyfish got bad, the second day there were some seaweed/junegrass, and the third was perfect. You never know what mother nature will do and it can change within minutes, but there is not such thing as a bad beach day.
