We had such a fabulous time at Pioneer Village — it truly felt like stepping back in time in the best way possible. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived, and the entire experience was immersive and fun for all ages. One of the highlights was spending time with the Native American reenactors, who were not only kind and knowledgeable but brought so much spirit to the day. The shooting show was exciting and well done — it felt like a living history lesson mixed with pure entertainment!
We loved exploring all the antiques, each piece telling a story of a simpler time. Colonel Popcorn was a delicious treat (absolutely a must-try), and we couldn’t resist picking up some little trinkets, including a beautiful pair of crystal earrings from the small arms and trading stores. Every detail of the village was charming, and there was so much to see, touch, and enjoy. You can tell the people running this place care deeply about what they do. We’ll definitely be back — it was a day full of wonder, laughter, and connection to the past.
A plus was the petting zoo. And food trucks and...
Read moreQuite upset actually. I was out there two weeks earlier, parked up by the handicapped area because there was no one there, was by myself on a Motorcycle and I didn't want my bike sitting alone across the street. No one bothered it, but a family of kids arrived and parked in the handicapped spot.
Just last week I brought a friend to see it, on Motorcycles again.. parked again at the Handicap area because again it was only open another 45 minutes, no one was there, but 4 workers, they never even talked to us, avoided us and we couldn't even ask if it was ok. The two of us parked in "one" spot and the park ranger showed up and gave us each a ticket for $100. No one was there and then he says. Don't forget we close in about 20 minutes. I get we parked in a bad spot, but this was really petty!!!! They were closing. He could've just given us a warning or something!!
I'll tell ya right now. I'll NEVER take anyone else there ever again. The parking lot and the place is not biker friendly, it's usually unattended, and it cost us $200 for 45 minutes to...
Read moreWe enjoyed Pioneer Days on Labor day and it was very enjoyable despite the heat and humidity and rainshower that day. The Scott County Sheriffs Dept. assisted with free parking and crossing the highway to the village. It cost to get in but there was alot to see. A barber shop-dentist shop, church, school, general merchandise store, barn full of farming tools and implements. There was also an ice cream shop that was air-conditioned and we were able to get a cold soda pop and sit at a table to relax in the cool air. Ice cream was also on the menu. When we left we observed people dressed in pioneer costume and looked inside two cabins that had authentic furnishings and fireplace for cooking. We bought some kettle corn and it was delicious. It is a family friendly event and I highly recommend...
