Good hiking experience for the whole family. Trail can get a bit muddy at times by the river, but thats what makes it an adventure. Entire trail can take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete depending on your speed and skill level. Peaceful scenery, very isolated, just a nice place to walk and relax. Parking is limited but it keeps too many people from being on the trail all at once which is nice. Great place to walk your dog.

It was so nice and quiet. Only one or two others there! You can see cows and lots of squirrels and birds. The oak loop (I think that the name!) is really amazing and full of trees. I love a good hike with amazing trees, cute animals and not too crowded!

The trail is well-marked but mostly dirt/mud so be smart and wear hikers or something better. I got more than a few raised eyebrows from passers-by when they saw me wearing BOC clogs. "Poor old lady must be lost" is what they were thinking.

A hiker hobbles into the Doctor's office and says "Doctor, I've hiked all the way here from Speedwell Forge and my right leg is killing me, can you take a look at it?"

"Sure," says the doc and he puts his stethoscope to the hiker's right shin bone. He hears a small voice say "Doc, can you lend me a quarter?"

Then he listens to the hiker's right knee and hears "Hey Doc, can you lend me a dollar?"

Then he puts the stethoscope to the hiker's right thigh and hears "Doc, can you lend me a twenty?"

The Doctor puts down the stethoscope and sighs, shaking his head gently from side to side. The hiker says "Well, did you find out what's happened to my leg?" The doc says "Yes; I really hate to tell you this, but your leg is broke in...

Lovely and quiet park. Parking area is small which helps keep numbers in the park low. Lots of fisherman frequent the creek area. Bring shoes suitable for mud if you plan to walk in the lower boggy/marshy flats. Wear shoes more suitable for hills if you want to hike the somewhat steep forested area. Wonderful for spotting local wild flora like Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Dog Tooth Violet, May Apples, Jacob's Ladder, Solomon's Seal and the like in early spring. You'll often spot deer...
