This place is truly magical, I enjoyed every step I hiked on this trail. I couldn't even imagine how beautiful this forest is. Trail is pretty easy to hike most of the time, there are some rocks and trees roots to keep an eye on. Also be sure you are hiking in shoes that are not slick, leaves over the rocks will make you sleep if you don't have grippy soles. There are several places where you can rest and watch the river. Bikes are not allowed on the trail. There is a small parking, not many spots to park, so if you are hiking on weekends make sure you arrive earlier. I went on Wednesday at 1pm and I was lucky that there was one parking spot available. I saw several families with kids, seemed that kids really enjoyed the hike. If you are in Johnson City, you have to see this place....

It was a beautiful trail. It was in between middle and high trail. It had some altitudes, gravel, and rocks in some parts of the trail. I love how it follows the river. It's just so beautiful. It looks like people go night camping. There are many flat spots to do that and already made areas to build a fire. I did not make it to the waterfall. The trail we were at the trail stopped right on the river. It looks like we had to go through the ankle deep river to get to the waterfall. I will research more to find out if there is...

If you have the time and ability to make it to the falls, it is well worth the effort. This hike can be as fast as 45 minutes for some or nearly 2 hours for others. Go at your own pace and be sure to wear clothes and shoes you can get wet in. Bring plenty of food and water and have fun! The view of the falls makes the effort worth it.

Side note: Do not get in the water after heavy rains. It can be very dangerous and has resulted in some tragic accidents. Follow the blazes and signs and you shouldn't have any...

Limited parking (maybe 10 cars or so?) and a busy trailhead. No restrooms. Very pretty creekside forest trail, with some free primitive camping spots, and you walk a portion of the Appalachian Trail. Stay on the trail and follow the A.T. white markers moving upward when you see a well-used split down toward the creek. Leads to a fantastic falls. Lots of families with young hikers. The only reason I gave 4 points instead of 5 is because I am not into big crowds. And it is a well traveled destination.
