Busse Forest Central — Attraction in Elk Grove Township

Feels kind of strange to review a forest preserve, but here we are! I use this as access to the bike path that wraps around Busse forest. The path is great for walking or biking. Love the mix of forested path and open path. It is a paved path so road bikes do well. There is a posted speed limit so you can't go nuts here, and the walkers/runners aren't always attentive....

Busse Woods is a really nice forest preserve. It's especially popular in the summer months. People walk, run, and bike the paved trail, which is well maintained. It's just over 7 miles if you do the full circle. There's also a lot of picnic/BBQ areas, boating, kayaking, and fishing. There's a gated section where a small herd of elk graze. They're beautiful...

BEWARE! This place is infested with ticks! Our dog had OVER 20 ticks on him after our 30 minute walk and my sister had one in her hair. We had to shave our dog to remove all the ticks from him. They need to do better about spraying their forest preserves for ticks. People need a safe place to walk and be in nature....
