I was on a hiking trip for the weekend and found this place on Google Maps. I decided to give it a try. The road to the top is dirt and narrow. Some places were wide enough for only one car to get by. Luckily I only passed one other car and it was at a wider area of the road. At the top of the road is a small parking area. Then it's a short walk up a path to get to the tower. There were 2 other families up there when I first got there but they left a few minutes later and I had the place to myself. It was quite chilly and windy up top. The views are pretty fantastic. The clouds moved in to the west to block the sunset but on the back side you could see the...
Read moreViews are amazing you can see for miles and miles. It is a little off the beaten path, so to speak, and the road driving to the top is narrow in places and somewhat difficult to pass other cars but it is all with it when you see the view. In fact we saw a black bear run across the road on our drive to the top (see photo). The actual climb to the top of the tower is I am guessing about 50-60 feet, not bad but the stairs are see through which might be troubling for some. The short trail to the tower is a bit bumpy, and I did twist my ankle on the way back, but just pay attention to where you're stepping and you'll be fine. There are stairs to get to the top, and more than I had remembered from the first time we went, but the view above the treeline is stunning and well worth it. If you don't want to walk up a bunch of stairs, there is a small, little clearing before the tower, near the parking area, where you can see some of the view. Still beautiful, but it isn't a 360° view like it is on the top...
