I really enjoyed volunteering this past Sunday, and was a tourist on Saturday! It was so nice to see ALL of the people who came out to support such a great history landmark!! To see the little ones eyes light up when they found out that there was no technology back in the early days was just amazing, the questions, I could just see the wheels turning in their heads.. and the AMAZING vendors.. so many cool items, of all genre's... if you haven't been to fall family fun days, you really need to go!! Bring the entire family, the young and the elderly... for some it will flood the older generations with amazing memories of when the days were much simpler and less chaotic, and for the little ones, a chance to learn some real local history!! And to forget about the modern world, even if it's just for a few hours!! I will be volunteering again. My father has been part of the committee for many years, and now my whole family volunteers.. Love the...

Our visit to the Thumb Octagon Farm was fun, informative and relaxing.

There was something for everyone.

Food, live entertainment. Country breakfast and lunch available. Warm donuts and cider made on the spot. An excellent band with seating. Children laughing, having fun pumping water, shelling corn, sorting beans, enjoying pony rides, puppets and more. There were row after row of tented venders with baked goods, antiques, craftsmen and craftswomen with unique, whimsical creations and useful creations as well.

The octagon barn is impressive. Milking equipment on display with cream separators of various models. Antique Tractors and other farm equipment on display

You didn't have to walk far to locate a bathroom and they provided hay wagon rides to and from the parking areas.

Everyone was so helpful and so pleasant. I would recommend and encourage all to plan a trip to the Thumb...

Great agricultural historical site in the Thumb. I remember going here in the early 90's when there were holes in the roof of the barn and racoons living in the house. What an amazing job the dedicated Friends of the Octagon Barn have done to restore, maintain and improve this gem if the Thumb. If you are interested in agricultural history this is the place to go the first weekend after Labor day each year. There are also other informational days, but this is the big weekend with lots of...

As unique as the octagon barn is the story behind it, is amazing. I just really wanted to see this barn, but I was simply blown away. This place is running due to dedicated people that want to preserve history. If u love history, if u love architecture, if u want to see the good ole days and how they farmed, lived, this is your place. Admission is by donation to keep this place preserved, it was 5.00 pp when I went. The volunteers are so knowledgeable.

A unique piece of history in the thumb area of Michigan. Huge barn is chocked full of neat antique farm items and implements. Interesting story of how and why it was built. Several other historical buildings are also in the premises. Before and after restoration photos are also posted in some of the buildings. A neat, low cost look at the past.

Great place to learn about the history of farming. Lots of antiques to see. Big flea market/craft fair. Live thrashing, potato digging, and saw milling, Michigan maple syrup, corn shucking, blacksmith, pickle sorting. Great apple pie and ice cream, fresh donuts and you can even milk a goat. Animal petting farm available as well.
