The campground was well-maintained and the sites themselves were really nice - ample space, trees, etc. However, I didn't like that it was situated right next to the highway. The semi's at 5am are the most disturbing part. Also, the staff can be pretty picky, and I've talked to several people who no longer camp here because of it. Another thing that I didn't anticipate that negatively influenced my experience was the tremendously bright light coming from the restrooms that illuminated the entire campground; it seemed pretty unnecessary. (Side note: the restrooms are maintained, but there are decent-sized gaps in-between the stalls). I was also disappointed that I couldn't find the entrance to the nature trail; it must have been behind someone's campsite. The map of the nature trail also gave the impression that the nature trail was a giant loop, however, there were many off-shoots and after a certain point I didn't know where I was and had to turn around. Also, the mosquitoes were so bad that it ruined the whole experience - I have never experienced them that bad. There was a swarm of them following me, despite wearing bug spray. This doesn't have any bearing on my review of Twin Lakes, but one should definitely make sure to have a decent bug spray when going on the...

Check-in was a little chaotic, tag was wrong and they said I already checked in- but I hadn’t. All was ok in the end. Only 3 showers, a woman kept taking her large dog into the bathroom. There is a campground beach- which actually was my site come to find out #35. This isn’t on the map so what looked like a nice site wasn’t. People were walking thru our site to beach and were like 20’ from our fire ring. This site is not at all private and we had people right outside our camper morning to night swimming, messing with their boat and fishing. People were parking their boats on the beach where the kids were trying to swim. The ORV trail 5 min from park is closed to the south right now which messes up everything trail as there really isn’t any place to park for trails in the area. Would recommend staying at McClain or nearer to Houghton, there just isn’t much in this area and we ended up in Houghton most everyday. Park needs to isolate the beach from the sites on it...

Check in went well. HORRIBLE noise!!! Campsite was small & extremely unlevel with MANY exposed tree roots. ORV traffic nouse level in the park was allowed to be too high; its a STATE park, not an ORV park! Please be respectful. It appeared that ORV traffic was allowed to drive MUCH faster than vehicle traffic; at times over 20mph! Efforts to keep restrooms clean were greatly appreciated, however, the female campers were pigs! Went to take a 5 minute shower right before we left, but the elderly man was cleaning. There are only 3 showers, he was in the women's restroom. We were driving home (apx 9 hour one way trip) & the man rudely said no. On the plus side, got a great "yupper" bundle of fire wood from Dave ($20 cash). A shout out also to the night time female park ranger, she was on it! A very...

Stayed a couple nights along the lake. Nice, small park, but too close to highway 26. Lots of big trucks on the highway makes it loud during the night. Nice playground area for children. Good area for lake activities. Showers and bathroom are okay but showing their age. Firewood man comes through each day with his truck of wood and brings it to your campsite, a nice service. Close to a restaurant, bar, gas and convenience store. Nice lake.
