Brengman Family Wines — Attraction in Elmwood Charter Township

I believe God sent us to this fine vineyard and winery! We were on a hunt to experience a winery and tasting before leaving Traverse City Saturday afternoon. Frantically calling around to many establishments to no prevail and with no true charisma with the response from the host we felt as if it wouldn’t happen.

Until calling the Brengman Brothers vineyard & winery. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming voice who we now know as “Rich”. He told us to come on by and we’d see upon arrival. With a breathtaking view we arrived at our destination, and greeted right away.

The ambience inside is just as immaculate as the surrounding landscape. We spoke with Rich for sometime as he gave us wine samples in our glasses to decide which to take on our walk. Such a great staff. To add, we even met one of the owners, I don’t recall if it were Mr. Ed Brengman or Mr. Robert Brengman, he himself gave such a nice conversation and openness to his establishment.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible!!! We had friends from out of town visiting and we wanted to show them some of the awesome wineries on the west side. This place was one of the few that we had never been to. We looked up their hours on-line and saw that they were open until 7pm so we decided to give them a try. We arrived shortly after 6pm, and had just turned off our vehicle and were getting out of our car, when we were promptly met by someone from inside. He first asked if we were members, which replied that we were not. Then he proceeded to tell us that they were closing early because "business had been slow." Seriously?!!! They had 45 minutes left on their day, the sign said open, but yet, they were closing?! We were totally pissed off, and in my opinion, what a terrible place. Who does that?!
