Such a hidden gem! Perfect for nature lovers who enjoy the outdoors, plants & nature. Great place to explore for a morning or afternoon with young children. Beautiful gardens to walk through with nestled little kid play nooks throughout that are so thoughtfully planned & cared for. Added bonus: Village/pk district running water bathrooms, large picnic pavillions & playgrounds right next to the garden grounds. So very well maintained by staff and dedicated volunteers. Supported by donations & free to visit, yet some visitors are repeatedly disrespectful and leave things out, not picking up after their children, and leaving things out in the elements to be damaged or ruined, which is disheartening. So lucky to have this amazing community treasure, would hate for uncaring folks to ruin it for the many that love it & respect it! Thank you Donna Banas for this unbelievable gift to the area & to so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was very early, just as the sun was coming up when the car rolled to a stop in Elwood, IL. I had some business to take care of in the area but I had a few hours to kill, so I went on a walk. I met a young lady on my walk and through our conversation she told me about the children's garden. Upon arriving at the children's garden I was blown away by life in every corner. Flower's, tree's, fish, birds, veggies, little play area's in every section of the garden where children are free to let their imagination explore. As I was about to leave the park, I was greeted by the same young lady I'd met only a half an hour earlier. She invited me to meet her friend's and honestly it was the best hour I've had in a long time. Thank you so much ladies for all the laughs and stories. Your group of friends every day at 8am in that park is the...

They can plant flowers, or just appreciate them. They can let their innocent imagination flow in the children's buildings. You can wander, and enjoy everything to. Maybe even bring childhood memories come to you. Unfortunately I must state, pay attention to other people of all ages there. If you're concerned, pay more attention to where your children are, and what they're doing. It's a wonderful park, especially in late...
