Coming down from the mountain, I met maybe 40 people, and since the Lehman parking was closed, the Wheeler Peak Trail parking was oversaturatrd when came back down. The lakes are beautiful, worth an icy swim and some ricochets. There are deer speckled all over the park if you're not a bumbling bee or too large a group. The Pinewood section is gorgeous and informative. The glacier itself is a little underwhelming but the towering mountains make it incredibly worth it. About 8 miles roundtrip. The start is in the woods with breakout vires of Wheeler. Wildlife along the way. Once we broke the treeline the winds really whipped up. We stopped in some rock shelters on the exposed ridge before the final push to the top to warm up. It looks daunting looking up at the final section but the trail is well bedded in by the rocks.
