"Go early, maybe try and be on the path by sunrise. Coming down from the mountain, I met maybe 40 people, and since the Lehman parking was closed, the Wheeler Peak Trail parking was oversaturatrd when came back down. The lakes are beautiful, worth an icy swim and some ricochets. There are deer speckled all over the park if you're not a bumbling bee or too large a group. The Pinewood section is gorgeous and informative. The glacier itself is a little underwhelming but the towering mountains make it incredibly worth it. Very windy up top, so obviously bring a sweater or so to switch into. Left my name in the book. Did the entire way back down by run, people looked at me like I was crazy but everyone's always nice on trails.

I can't wait to go back and do this hike again. We climatized for a week hiking lower trails before attempting this hike. About 8 miles roundtrip. The start is in the woods with breakout vires of Wheeler. Wildlife along the way. Once we broke the treeline the winds really whipped up. We stopped in some rock shelters on the exposed ridge before the final push to the top to warm up. It looks daunting looking up at the final section but the trail is well bedded in by the rocks. The wind almost knocked us down a few times and would halt forward momentum.

The last couple of miles up to the summit were quite difficult when considering elevation and the force of the wind. However the trail was enjoyable. Reaching the summit is a good feeling, and the sights are beautiful. Saw some mule deer and such! Bring a jacket for the altitude, plenty of water, and start early to avoid the intensity of the sun.
