The Gasparilla Island Lighthouse is a historical treasure that transports you back in time, offering a glimpse into Florida's maritime history. 🏴‍☠️⚓

Perched majestically on the scenic Gasparilla Island, this lighthouse stands as a symbol of maritime heritage and a testament to the island's rich past. The lighthouse itself is a picturesque sight, with its classic design and white facade contrasting beautifully against the blue skies. 🌞🏝️

Visiting the Gasparilla Island Lighthouse is like stepping into a postcard. The views from the top are breathtaking; you can see the azure waters of the Gulf of Mexico stretching out as far as the eye can see. 🌊👁️ The climb to the top may be a bit steep, but the reward is well worth it.

The onsite museum provides a fascinating insight into the history of the lighthouse and the island. It's both educational and enjoyable, making it a perfect stop for families and history buffs alike. 🏛️📚

The surrounding grounds are well-maintained, offering a serene setting for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. The whole experience is a nostalgic journey through time, filled with awe and wonder. 🕰️🤩

The photos you see on this site are a wonderful archive of just how pleasant the Lighthouse Beach used to be. The beach is still there, which is significant in itself, given the devastation that many of our beautiful barrier island beaches suffered in the 2024 hurricane season. They'll be back, of course, but it will take some time to reach the level of individual character and leisurely wonder like these photos depict. The folks responsible for restrooms and parking lots have done a super job of restoration and readiness so you can count on both. Bring your own food, water, and shelter if you need one. Just be patient and wait for your turn in the parking lot. Enter the lot on the North end, exit the South end, and everyone will be happy. Don't worry,...

The Gasparilla Island lighthouse is such a gem and treasure. The lighthouse is absolutely gorgeous and the volunteers who help out for the lighthouse climb are very knowledgeable about the history of the lighthouse. Rob was very friendly and shared the history of the lighthouse with us. We spent some time with Wendy at the top of the lighthouse, taking in the absolutely beautiful views when we got to the top. This place is an absolute treasure, and I highly recommend doing the lighthouse walk when they are open. We stopped by on a Wednesday and were able to take advantage of this opportunity. This is definitely something you cannot miss when you come to Boca Grande.

A Fritomann review. We came for opening day lighthouse climb ceremonies on October 25, 2023. The Barrier Islands Society owns the lighthouse tower and they had a tent set up and the weather was beautiful. You pay a donation or fee to go up the steps. That's how they fund maintenance for these historic sites. It is quite a ways up there to the top. The tower is very well maintained. It actually was relocated from Delaware I believe, a very long time ago. There are more scheduled climbing events in the next couple months so check their website www.BIPS for info.
