Ennis’ Bluebonnets website recommend this spot as the best place to see the Texas state flower. We’ve tried other spots in Ennis before, and I wasn’t sure we needed a different place, but I’m glad we did. The bluebonnets coverage was quite good though still not quite as thick as I was hoping. But they have many stone tables with benches good for sitting, picnicking, etc.; some even had roofs for shade. It is also on the water, which is really a nice addition for pictures and the view. It was a bit slimy, but we did some wading, which the kids loved. There is no bathroom, but there are a couple of port-a-potties. I’ve never seen any facilities at any other Bluebonnets spots in Ennis (outside of the festival grounds), so it’s a step up, even if just a small one. There were quite a lot of people there on Good Friday but there was still plenty of room for parking and space for pictures and some breathing room. Though it was a distance west of the highway (about ten minutes of driving), this will likely become our go-to when we visit Ennis for the...
Read moreWe stopped at Meadow View Nature Area while driving the Ennis Bluebonnet Trail. Most of the trail leads past farms and fields that are private property so can only enjoy from the car, but Meadow View on Bardwell Lake is public. The park is only open to vehicular traffic in April. We visited during the bluebonnet festival so it was very crowded, but we didn't have trouble finding parking. The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush were near peak the second weekend in April and it was really beautiful. We spent over an hour wandering around the park, enjoying the flowers and getting pictures. Great spot to view and photograph the...

This park is a must stop during wildflower season to take some great pictures, have a picnic or just stroll around. There is no dedicated parking space but you can easily park on the side of the road.
P.S - this park has more flowers than the bluebonnet park so definitely make...
