I have passed by this spot many times when I visited Wallowas County over the years without stopping, because I didn't think.it was long or high enough to be interesting. I was wrong

First, this spot is important, because it was the start of the long trek the local Nez Perce took across the west, as they tried to evade the US military - an epic journey that took extraordinary horsemanship on the part of the whole group, and a determined effort to protect their people and the way of life they had practiced in this area from time immemorial

Second, this short walk takes you over a small berm, through waving grass, to a small tree-fringed pond that perfectly reflects the trees around it, and the Wallowas behind it. It gave me a perfect moment of still quietness, in a sacred...

Beautiful scenic Park mostly flat area but some up and down trails too. Picture perfect crystal clear Knights pond with the gorgeous backdrop of the year round snow capped Wallowa mountains, don't forget to stop by and give thanks to the Chief Joseph Monument and burial ground overlooking the historical gorgeous Wallowa Lake and all just a short walk from downtown Joseph or you can use the convenient parking area with restrooms. Please be respectful to the wildlife , and there are no garbage cans on the trail except at the beginning and the end so please carry your waist back out with you and dispose of them...

This is a really nice hike with some great views and a lot of history. It's a very significant cultural site for the Nez Peirce tribe. This is their homeland and we are fortunate to be able to walk the same ground in this beautiful place.. be careful there is cougars and bears along with the deer who call this place home. Take nothing and leave only footprints to help protect these beautiful trails.. I recommend anyone who loves the history and culture of native Americans to check this place out and enjoy the beauty it...

This is a nice kid friendly, easy hike with wonderful views. I feel like it gets overlooked because there are so many hikes and activities by Wallowa lake but this is great if you want a little break and an easy fun hike.

A very peaceful, easy walk across a very important piece of land. The information at the the start of the trail is worth the read. It really set the tone for what I saw here. In general being here is very sobering.
