Day Use State Park about 10 minutes north east of Enumclaw. Park surrounds Deep Lake, a smaller lake (no gas powered engines on the lake) so it's used mostly by swimmers and other small watercraft, Kayaks, Canoes, etc.
The south end by the parking lot has bathrooms, tables, beach, and a dock. Facilities are usually pretty clean, staff are actively cleaning and picking up on weekends. Beach is pretty rocky so bring your water shoes. If you are swimming, water gets deep pretty quick, so non-swimmers need to stay close to the shore. Lake water is usually pretty warm by late June.
A 1.7 mile trail follows the shore of deep lake which is mostly flat and has lots access locations to the lake. Good hike for families with small kids. Take a snack and let the kids play for a bit on trip around.
Fishing, there are plenty of fisherman around the lake, but I haven't seen allot of fish hauled in out of the lake, so probably not the best place to fish. The dock is usually too busy with swimmers to fish from, so walk around the lake and find a good shore acees location to fish from. West side of the lake seems to be the more popular fishing side.
It's a state park so Discovery Pass is required to park in the lot, it's not required if you park on the...
Read more1.4 mile trail is noisy, due to kids shrieking as they play in the lake; some people don't clean up after their dogs, there are several people there even up until closing, and bicycles share the trail. For picnics/gatherings and as a kid-friendly park, it seems pretty good. But for those who want a quiet, mellow walk, look elsewhere.
And for those wanting to swim... I wouldn't, personally. I looked up water quality reports and I doubt that this fact from Aug 2015 (WA Dept of Ecology) has changed, "Deep Lake acts as a sink for sediment, nutrients, and fecal coliform, trapping the vast majority of sediment, nutrients, and fecal coliform that enter the lake via the inlet." But that said, I saw several people swimming w/their kids. So, it's probably safe enough to swim in—after all, the state would close it, otherwise. Still, the water's just kinda gross, and I noticed other reviews saying the same/worse. I'd rather swim elsewhere if...
Read moreNolte stste park is a great park_for as stste parks go anyways_ Its a DAY USE park with several picnic benches areas, BBQ grills and lots of access to the lake. There is a trail that leads 1.4 miles around the entire lake. The trail is quite decent and just a few ups and downs. I wouldn't quite say you wanna take grandma down the entire trail in her wheelchair but you can go either direction around the lake for a bit before you begin to hit the hilly areas. There is also a fishing dock and some version of a "beach" area; although its not dandy its dirt and rocky. There is lots of trees for shade as well as.trash receptacles and dog_poop bags are available in several locations though the park. For those that like the water_ in the summer months_ they offer life vests to use. There is even restrooms available that have flushing toilets and sinks in each bathroom. A very good day use...
