Saw this quick trial on Washington Trail Association and thought I would try it out. It says that the loop is 1.8 miles, but I think it is more than that based on linking over to the King County Park system. It was rated as Easy to Moderate for difficulty. I will agree with this rating for the difficulty. There were parts I would rate as hard, but overall it Easy to Moderate. Dogs are welcome to these trails on leash. I did talk with a couple of women who had a dog not on leash, and was under control, we chatted and they said no one seems to care if you have them under control. So I put my field collar back on and took my dog off leash and we had a better time hiking to the peak. When near or passing other dogs, I did leash my dog. Once at the top it has a really amazing outlook station. I took my dog up to the top of it and we enjoyed the really amazing view looking over Enumclaw. Worth the hard hike up as we didn't take the same trails as everyone else. When going back down we did an easier trail and really enjoyed the walk back. Worth the quick hike to get the dog out and to get...
Read moreWhile there doesn't seem to be any signage that loudly proclaims this park, Google Maps knows where it is, so the place is relatively easy to find. A large parking lot, clean pit type toilets and a challenging trail awaits. Bring water, snacks, wear your bug repellent, and have your ten essentials with you before heading into the forest. Most important, let someone know you're gonna be here. Because you will want to be here! Great trail, moderate to more vigorous hiking to get to the view that is indeed a bit peek a boo from tree growth, but still worth it on a nice day. Or don't go far and just enjoy forest bathing. A nice stop in the area, a good reminder of all that is good and growing and changing with the seasons. Of course, as with with anywhere these days, leave no valuables in your car, and be ready for some folks who don't...
Read moreAre you looking for a short but very challenging hike? There are 2 trailheads, one at the north and one at the south. Both offer very challenging trails. 1100' of elevation gain over 1.5 miles on the south side. If you stay hard right, from the south side there are some very technical portions of the trail. It appears to be a fairly used area, I recommend early in the morning. If the gate is closed there is parking outside the fence with easy entry. Bathrooms were very clean!
Navigating is fairly easy but I do recommend grabbing the map off king county parks website.
I love to challenge myself, I was wearing a 30# Ruck which took this hike to another level.
If you are reading this, you need to get out and do it!
