Took baby pictures here the other day. It was freakin' hot. We started at 7:30am thinking it would still be cool, nope. Good news though, there's a lots of shade so you don't have to worry about overexposure/clipping. This place is pretty photogenic, its got a variety of terrain so your pictures won't look all the same. There's a nice field by the parking lot where you can get creamy bokeh. Pretty thick forest once you hit the trails but it's not like a scary looking forest, lots of balanced greenery. You don't have to walk that far and you're by the river. You may have to pick up a little bit of trash by the shoreline, but it's good for the picture and the environment. I'd do a photoshoot here again. Maybe early fall/spring is best so you're not sweating a river.

Beautiful, you can fish, take a walk or a boat there, several trails and great scenery

This little hidden gem is a great spot for fishing. I went here in several occasions and I’ve had a lot of fun. There’s trails, canoe launch points, fishings spot up and down the river. My nephew caught his first catfish here. He was very excited. I recommend coming here with family and friends for a day away from all your day to day job/chores. Conveniently located off of highway road 217. Catfish bite here with Shrimp and chicken liver. Grass carp are rare but you can try with bread or oatmeal. Good luck and have fun! Park is open 24/7

Erwin rail trail at first it was nice to walk on with my friend and her 2 kids and my 2 kids and then we got ambushed and guns pulled on us by a truck and 8 guys in it with guns this was a very bad experience for our kids . And there was 3 other families that got ambushed and held with guns also walking and going fishing I though the trails and the river was suppose to be safe for families and kids ? And the truck was a dark smoky grey color and had no tags on the back of it dark tinted windows . They need to have security at the river walking at each end of it to be honest I'm seriously thinking about not taken my kids out there anymore didn't even wanna have to rate 1 star but in order to post I had to 7:40 pm right as when the sun was about to go down...

It’s a river. Relatively few playable features at anything but moderate high flows. Riverside scenery is unremarkable with many developed private lots. The put-in in Lillington is an NC Wildlife boat ramp with no amenities including trash cans. The park at the takeout in Erwin seems to be doing everything possible to make it difficult for paddlers to egress. Large riprap has been placed over the takeout making footing treacherous. Stairways carved into the banks are steep and impossible to carry kayaks/canoes up. There are restrooms at...
