A huge park with something for everyone. Several Kids playgrounds. Dozens of Hike trails. Elevated hike bridge through the wetlands. Safe paved bike path. Great for homeschooler field trips and church picnics. Fox nature center has many educational displays.
Lots of ticks and biting greenhead flies. Also smaller strawberry biting flies. There is a chance of getting chiggers if you walk in the unmowed grass fields from May until the first frost. Bring bug repellent. Consider spraying hat and clothing. Wear long pants.
A nice dock hidden at the back with access to great egg harbor river. Kayak friendly put in about a three minute walk from the parking lot. Many wonderful tributaries to explore that are shielded from the wind. If you go kayaking, Check the tide as you may be fighting a very strong current, which could preclude you from making any headway. Meaning you may want to go out at high tide or low tide but be wary of the tides flow so you have enough strength to make it back.
Several fishing locations to choose from.
Peaceful, restful military cemetery
Huge field for soccer
Did I mention the bugs and flies will chase you? It’s really that bad
Historic World War I, artifacts and Educational sites.
Bike riding trails, single track, some nice beginner and intermediate trails
Horseback riding with the large field and plenty of parking for equestrian trailers.
Be sure to get your boat ramp parking permit to avoid getting ticket.

Read moreMy cousin and I spent a partly sunny afternoon walking half the trails. They were all well maintained and we loved each trail’s different scenery. Tip: if you go on the boardwalk, especially swamp trail, after it has rained or after there have been days of steady rain, wear bug spray/hat/long sleeves/pants. It rained the morning before we walked as well as the days leading up to walking. We usually get bit when we don’t wear bug spray so before we walked these trails we applied bug spray through bug wipes and didn’t get bit. However, we did feel lots of bugs passing parallel and perpendicular to us as well as what felt like lots of cobwebs on our legs and arms the entire time we were on the boardwalk. So much so that we exited the trail and detoured to the road to circle back to our vehicle rather than crossing over to another trail to eliminate additional possible continuous bug swarming activity. It reminded us of tracker jackers in Hunger Games in relation to being pestered/terrorized. Otherwise it was very enjoyable and I think if the weather had been sunny leading up to our walk it would have been less terrorizing on the boardwalk although I can’t say for sure because this has been our...
