Bear lake, one of the most visited locations in Rocky Mountain National Park, is truly one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Colorado and possibly in the United States as well! Towering mountains soaring miles above sea level, dense layers of tall, thin, and green conifer trees pointing straight into the sky, and a fresh lake with pristine and clear water shape the stunning, jaw-dropping, unparalleled, magnificent, and strikingly beautiful scenery that leave visitors and tourists awestruck with wonder, thrill, and inspiration. A trail wrapping around the perimeter of bear lake offers a plethora of viewing areas at the edge of the lake from multiple visual perspectives where visitors can gaze at and take photos of the crystal clear body of water with the trees and the sky-scraping mountains in the background. This trail itself isn’t too long, being only about a mile long, but other, more rigorous trails branch off from this path, some leading to other scenic lakes and some leading to glaciers higher up in the mountains!
Upon visiting Bear Lake earlier this year, I was just as impressed and thrilled by the scenery as the description above suggests! Everywhere I looked, I found myself immersed in a world of natural beauty and majesty that I’ve seen almost nowhere else in this world. All around me, birds native to the park, especially steller’s jays, were darting rapidly through the trees, and through the water, I found tiger salamanders moving slowly beneath the surface. The sights and the sounds of nature helped bring me to a calm, relaxed, and soothed state of mind, and I encourage others visiting Bear Lake and other parts of Rocky Mountain National Park to immerse themselves in the peaceful sensations of nature. Beyond that, I also recommend this destination for avid hikers, nature enthusiasts, bird and wildlife watchers, and artists as well, as the breathtaking scenery can provide inspiration for people with a passion for painting, sketching, and even photography! Overall, I encourage more people to visit this iconic location and I’m looking forward to returning...
Read moreBear Lake is a beautiful place to visit within RMNP. Between the dates of lates May and late October, you’ll need a timed entry pass. If you don’t have a timed entry pass then you’ll have to be through the gate that leads to Bear Lake before 5am! This is one of the most popular places to visit in RMNP so I’d suggest arriving before 8am if you want to find a parking space. The beautiful scenery, close access to Bear Lake from the parking lot, and very little elevation gain, is why it’s so popular. I highly recommend this lake for the...
