Dream Lake is beautiful lake surrounded by cliffs. We have been trying to make it to this lake for sometime, and this September finally we made it with our toddler and few friends. We started our hike mid afternoon, and hung out there by the lake till sunset. Check the sunset pictures that I captured, they are sublime! The trail to Dream lake starts at Bear Lake Trailhead. This TH seems to be one of the most popular places in Rocky Mountain National Park, since we always end up with a Parking Full sign. Luckily, there are RMNP shuttles that take you up here from the lower TH parking lots. The drive here for us this time was eventful. We witnessed fall colors along the road and in the valley, and we scored a bonus when a big elk crossed our road. Check out the video I have attached. The trail itself is not long, about 2.2 mile out & back from Bear Lake TH. However, the trail starts off with a steep climb. Don't let that deter you, since at halfway the climb gets easier. You will have valley and mountain views on the way. You will cross Nymph Lake which is beautiful as well, not far from Dream Lake. Overall, the trail is beautiful, moderately difficult, but even a toddler should be able to hike this. This Dream Lake has been worth all that...
Read moreWent up today for a bit of fresh air and to start the year off on the right foot...literally because my left foot has been a problem lately. 😒 The area had received some fresh snow but quite a few visitors has kept it pretty well packed. A lot of folks used snowshoes or Trax for traction but some had neither and seemed to get along. Stay on the trail because its pretty soft and deep in most places and will only get deeper as winter continues. The people were terrific and shared the trail gladly. Those faster hikers (in better shape) were patient with the slower hikers (in not so good shape, me) but it's a good idea to step aside and let them pass and to take turns when the comers and goers meet on a narrow trail. The scenery was fantastic and a few interesting trees caught my eye. The weather was mild for the mountains and layers are needed because you warm up hiking in the trees and then the wind blows when on the lake or in open areas. What a great start to...

We had a nice hike to 5 different lakes. After passing Bear Lake and Nymph Lake we arrived at this lake. It took us around 30 hours walking, not that steep. But elevation over 9500 feet is a bit different compared to other hikes.
The Lake itself is is quite long, and you can pass it only on one side to continue to Emerald Lake. When arriving at the Dream Lake you have the best view over the complete lake. Some driftwood gathers at the shore and you have a nice pine forest to the left. On the right side and in the back you see Flattop Mountain, Hallett Peak and Notchtop Mountain.
The view is awesome and in the early morning you can enjoy the silence. We really liked it.
You have a lot of trouts in the crystalclear water, we saw some strange tracks in the water, it seems there was an elk walking in the water. Unfortunetly we haven't...
