I'm giving Lakepoint 1 star just for refunding mine and my sisters money. She planned well in advance my brother in laws birthday party and paid for cabin 1 month in advance. We both rented the handicap A and B cabins by fishing pond. She brought in huge grills and coolers. When we arrived the cabins where clean but had obvious up keep maintenance issues floor soft in bathroom around toilet. It rocked and felt like it might fall in. Wholes in walls and baseboards. Windows separating from wall. Visible rotting wood on decks. They had mouse traps down. After we got everything set up and started prepping food to cook we heard screaming outside, a guest had seen the top of a alligator! Good Lord I then noticed the sign down the hill posted in between the cabins next to ours. We all got dressed for bed and turned in. More screaming, Bed bugs! Not in 1 but 2 rooms. Called front desk they sent housekeeping they confirmed they where indeed bed bugs and added we though we had gotten rid of them. What in the Sam Hill you though you didn't know before you rented cabins again! She said she would send maitience to spray He never came. Next day called front desk again they offered to move all of us but it would be separate cabins and we would have to relocate all the grills and dryers. We couldn't do that so we said we would speak to management upon check out. We closed doors to rooms with bed bugs and slept on couches and on top of other beds. Some had to go get hotels in town. The party went on, but with very tired hosts. As our Grandparents taught us we left things better than we found them. We sprayed Lysol everywhere scrubbed pots and pans with a steel scrubber, which was not done for us. We scrubbed floors with soap also not done in what seems to be a while. Last we cleaned stoves better than we found them. Went to check out and I kid you not the first young lady we encountered said I cant return your money the cabins have a rustic feel for a reason. WTH! I Nearly lost it my Sister kept calm and ask to speak to manager on duty. Supervisor and Manger came. They offered 1 night refund. Hummmm but the bed bugs where there for 2 nights and we could not move the burros girls and fryers. Repeated 1 night refund. I said you know what I will be reviewing our experience and I'm sure upper management will be reading. She went to back and came back and said for the first time they where sorry and gave a full refund. Then said they dont go and check behind independent contractors they bring in to exterminate. Again WTH! Last but certainly not least I asked why there where no mattress zippered covers on any of the beds she looked puzzled and said there was suppose to be. Lorty! 1 lady note to those that will still rent these cabins. The housekeepers come in the morning to replace towels in bathrooms but they dont knock they use there key and come in...

A lot has changed over the past 50 years. As a child we loved to come and fish at the crack of dawn with Daddy and about lunch time go out in the lake and jump off the boat for a swim then pull the toddlers in and the older kids would water ski. An afternoon nap and more fishing and sitting around the campfire. Oh the fun I had on that lake. Then I married and had a child of my own. He loved the campground and his jet ski as well. This past weekend my baby boy was a little late because he had to take his 6 yr old son to t-ball. Did I mention my baby boy is 35? And my daughter is 26 with a 4 yr old. We discussed the beach across the way and how it was grown up and not at all beachly looking. The place is just a bit run down. There is still lots of squirrels and crows. It’s always good to get together with ya family. We meet at least yearly. We stayed at the Lodge this year, it was nice but had a few concerns. The biggest issue I had was the bath tub would not drain fast enough to keep up. There was no decision on water pressure with 1 knob, just hot vs cold. I took a rather quick shower & didn’t shampoo my hair and still had 3 inches of water in the tub when I stepped out. The hair dryer was ripped off the wall and needed a few screws to mount it and we were on the first of 2 floors but our ceiling had spots all over where the sheetrock was popped down. Some large but most small. We were 3 rooms between mom & dad and us. I saw that their sheetrock was the same way. I didn’t ask about the tub. The Lodge’s Restaurant had wonderful buffet breakfast for $9.99. Just look at your dishes to make sure they are clean. I tried to turn the coffee cup over for our waitress to pour in and it was stuck to saucer. Went to another table and picked up a cup and it had sugary dark syrup like gummy on the handle. Had to try again and you can bet that I checked out all our plates, glasses, cups and silverware before using it. The food was fine. Everything was in slow mode. We got there and our rooms were not ready. The ladies behind the desk were not in a hurry to check the people in in front of us. We had to wait for a while to be checked in. Breakfast started at 7. We were there at 7:04 and told that it wasn’t quite ready to give them a few more minutes. Nice folks just… Don’t be in any hurry at all. Thank goodness this was a pleasure weekend and not a...

Lakepoint Resort State Park Directions from RVTRIPWIZARD were correct. Entrance into the Park has signage pointing to the Marina Lodge for check-in. Road network is good and plenty of parking at the Marina for large rigs. Check in was easy in the Camp Store which had a nice selection. Fire wood was available to purchase. There is also a grill at the Marina Lodge but it was totally confusing on when they are open. She told me they would be open Monday (we were checking in on a Sunday) but an hour later she told my wife the grill would be closed but the restaurant in the Main Hotel Lodge would be open. We went to confirm and nope, they are closed on Mondays. So, at this stage it’s anyone’s guess. We were provided a map with code for the security gate into the actual RV campsites. There are lots of trails in this Park but no map was provided for them. Roads up to the RV campground security gate were ok but once through the gate they got ugly quick. Our initial reservation was for Barbour Loop. FYI, there are four loops; Alabama Loop, Barbour Loop, Deer Court Loop and Clark Loop. Only Deer Court has full hookups. First thing we noticed were the roads actually got worse as we entered Barbour Loop. Also, all of the hook ups were on the passenger side so water and electrical cables would have to be snaked under your rig. Another thing was there were a number of apparent “long stay” residents that gave the loop a junky feeling. We called the Marina and they switched us to a site in Deer Court. Full hook up sites are $30 a night and most are pull throughs. Sites are asphalt with a fire pit, picnic table and e/w/s. Roads remain in terrible shape and most sites are in need of mowing and some road repair. Many of the approaches to sites were deeply rutted. AT&T had one to two bars. No WiFi is available. This must have been one heck of a Park in its day. We saw abandoned tennis courts, signs along one of the trails that needed replacing, and there was just a general sense of depression. Now, if you are into water activities, this is the place for you because the Marina was beautiful. If you are looking for a single night stay this will work. If you are staying because you have a boat then you’ve come to the...
