What a magical place to walk! The ocean waves are fascinating, always changing, a unique experience with each visit. I often see ocean life surrounding the head of the jetty-- a pacific porpoise family and harbor seals that live there year round, and once in a while you can spot the spout of a passing whale. If you like to watch water sports, this is a favorite place to see surfers, (sometimes big wave surfers), jet ski's or stand-up paddle surfers depending on the size of the surf. Read moreI don't know what happened here, but walking along the boardwalk feels like you're walking through the remnants of nuclear fallout. It's like visiting the game Fallout in real life. Giant chunks of cement scattered along the beach; huge holes in the walkway; barbs sticking out. It'd make a great setpiece for any amateur filmmakers in the area.Also, the walk down the North Jetty is not to be missed. It feels like you're walking directly to the ocean. If you look out into the water you might see some porpoises splashing around, too!!Unless it's high tide. You should definitely miss it during high tide. You could get ripped into the watter and DIE. Read moreAlways a good time. Only a few miles from my home. Had granddaughters high school graduation party there recently, was lots of fun. Enjoyed the picnic area as well as the beach. Warmer on the bay side. Restrooms were close by( non flushing & no sink) but handy. We had a great time with family & friends. A great outing and a must visit for travelers. Great beach, views of bay & ocean. Good fishing as well. Lots of quad & offroad trails to enjoy as well as the ocean side. Come enjoy our beach in Humboldt County it's beautiful!!...
