Beautiful place but the road is closed as of Mar27 (the last 4 miles to picnic spot) till April 30. Hope this information helps as it’s not found elsewhere. Drive n 360 view is amazing though.

Sweet little spot to grab a bite and hang in the shadows of greatness! The first time I was here resulted in an early bird hike to Whitney and missing all of this amazingness at the TH.

Here is relatively empty maybe because it’s hides behind the trailhead. No one know there is a waterfall, a lake, restrooms, trash cans, bridge and parking lot here. You should stop by if you have nothing to do at trailhead. It’s a good...

Whenever going by this area whitney portal stop is a must for me. Have camped in the portal campground, hiked Mt Whitney and just done short overnight stays along with short hikes here. Beautiful area that is a very short distance...
