Great park in Fairlawn, OH. It's a bit hidden away but a great find! The fenced play area is great for all ages. Smaller slides for younger kids, larger ones for big kids, baby and normal swings. Plus there are benches and picnic tables. The playground is full sun but there are shade areas nearby. There is a small learning resource center (nature center) that contains various animals (birds, fish, snakes, rabbits, etc.) as well as a small classroom and more learning resources. The building gives visitors access to working toilets and sinks! (No changing tables available.) If they are closed, there are porta potties available. If you venture away from the playground there is a wooden walking path ( it is somewhat narrow (would not advise a double wide stroller here!) Where you can learn about the history of the area and take a long or short walk! There are also tennis and basketball courts at the park! So...
Read moreMy kids absolutely love this park and playground. The playground equipment is some of the best in the area, with a great soft rubberized area underneath. There is adequate bench seating and picnic tables right next to it for parent parking or picnic lunches.
The walking trails through the marsh area has plenty of variety in terms of trail length and content, and is full of educational plaques. The trails are well maintained, and most feature a built wooden walking path, so there is no worry about mud.
There is plenty of green space for activities, and there is a drinking fountain and bathroom at the building near the parking lot. Unfortunately, the bathroom is locked on...
Read moreFort Island is a great park to visit with a quirky history. A lot of the park bog/marsh so the majority of the trail is a raised up wooden walkway. There is also signs up along the trail giving facts about the bog/marsh and the plants found there. One issue is since its a bog/marsh there is a lot of water which means there are a lot of bugs so bringing bug spray is recommended if you plan on staying awhile. You also want to be careful about poison oak and ivy but if you stay on the walkway its not an issue. Overall it's a lovely place to take a walk and learn more...
