Ensign Lake — Attraction in Fall Lake Township

I recommend taking the water taxi from La Tourells on Moose Lake. Then paddle to the east side of the Ensign, turn north, to where the bay has a portage to Trident Lake and camp there. You’ll catch walleye all day off the point that of that bay. (Red X) And bass fishing is also excellent in that bay. To the left of that portage into Trident lake is a great campsite. (Circled) It’s open to catch the wind, but large trees to hang your packs. The campsite on the same side of that point (circled), is flat. Both of these campsites have good spots for landing your canoes. No signs of bears ever, (been here 4 times), at this end but some moose sightings.

What’s best about these spots is the view of the sky at night. I’ve never seen the Milky Way so illuminated as I did there.
