Absolutely stunning, from start to finish! The parking is plentiful and right off the highway with signs clearly marking the trail. There are port-a-potties on the side of the parking lot. The trailhead is clearly marked, and it doesn't take long to feel like you've stepped into somewhere truly magical. There are moss-covered boulders, and trees with exposed roots that seem to defy logic. The path has rocks and roots to watch for, so it's not a place to think you can get your heart rate up much, because you really should pause frequently and take in the beautiful scenery. There are a few ways to get to the riverside; we ended up coming out of the trees at a spot where there's a huge cement pillar with graffiti on it--- less than ideal, but a short scramble up some boulders past the pillar (these boulders are why I decided this hike could be considered "moderate") and the entire waterfall is visible, in all its rushing glory. It's fairly easy to get to different vantage points, and there are signs with information on the falls and the power plant around the bend. The waterfalls are simply gorgeous. They're loud and powerful and the white water against the dark granite is just stunning. The view down river, full of smooth rocks sitting along the river bottom, is just as picturesque. While this isn't the right hike if you have any sort of complication that would make a moderately easy hike harder, if you enjoy short, beautiful walks through the woods that end in a fantastic view, don't...

This was a pretty nice falls to see. Falls were pretty & you can even see the dam from parts of the trail. I read reviews before going & saw a lot of reviews about an easy trail. Well, I am not a hiker or in the best of shape in that sense, so will share my perspective.

The trail is not "hard" by any means. But when I read " easy in/easy out", I am not sure I would agree with that. The trail is not a simple smooth path as one would expect from reading reviews like that. It's a dirt trail, with the majority of the trail going up or down hills with rocks & tree stumps to navigate. So if you have walking problems, probably not going to be a good option to try.

There aren't any arrows or indicators on the trail, to let you know which way to go, only a sign at the start & signs when you are at the falls. There were some spots which made you wonder which way to go, as people have wondered off the main trail & almost created another one.

Good thing is, you can hear the falls & road traffic, so probably won't get lost either way. Definitely worth a trek if you are able to...

The waterfalls are pretty, however I think there should be a notice for people, small dogs and small children. This is a beautiful but not too friendly of a trail. Rustic at best, surprising some people have said it's "well groomed" "great for dogs & and children". There are roots, mud, small ravines to scale to see the falls. It's not for everyone and I'm surprised not many other people have reported injuries here! We had just been talking about how we would never bring a dog here unless it was big (so it could handle the terrain). Upon leaving there was a family with a smaller dog. They asked about the trail. Told them they may have to carry their fur babyibaby many spots. They were surprised when we told them the trail isn't very friendly and has some accessibility issues. Beautiful nature, great place to fall or...

Awesome hiking trail with a beautiful view of the falls as the payoff. You can hear the falls the moment you park in the lot! The trail has some elevation changes and can be very slick near the falls, so appropriate footwear is highly recommended. There is a nice bench directly up near the falls to take in the view for a bit before moving on. Total trail length is just under a mile for the main loop. Definitely recommend stopping if you are in Ely and want a little exercise.

I first hiked this trail about 10 years ago and it became my favorite place to visit when I would come up to Ely. The hike is easy, about a half mile to the waterfall and I was able to bring my daughter with for the first time during this past visit to Ely. It was her first time seeing a waterfall in person! The hike and waterfall is beautiful and peaceful!! It is never too crowded and I personally think it is better than Gooseberry Falls.
