We didn't know that touring the museum was by appointment only but the husband of the caretaker couple opened the museum and gave us a fabulous tour. He was informative, welcoming and generous with his time. Madame Nordica is a many generations back relative - we both are Nortons. I did not, however, get any of her singing genes!!! The museum is stocked full of Madame Nordica memorabilia--- her gowns, jewels, letters and pictures etc. We know much more about her life and fame now that we have toured this small and...

I'm biased. I love museums like this. Ms. Lillian Nordica was perhaps the greatest American-born opera soprano ever, and yet few know about her today. This small-town museum in her birth house is practically a shrine to her accomplishments. Contains some very rare pieces. Friendly folks running the museum. It' a small town, so you may want to call ahead and make sure someone will be there. Otherwise it's worth the small entrance fee to enjoy and learn about this...
