The park was beautiful. We are new here and came out and found it hard to find any other trails other than the paved bike/running trail. I had my dog and two little boys with me and we were just too slow for all the activity around us. We were in the way and some of the bikers rode so fast passing us that I was worried my little ones and my dog would get hit. Realizing we did not belong on this trail being too slow we got off it and saw a park ranger. I asked him politely where there were trails for slower folks and he looked at me strangely and even with irritation. I asked him then instead where there were trails with less "activity" and he looked at us weird again. Finally I said quietly "Less bikes" ...trying not to sound rude - I just wanted to go somewhere slow and enjoy nature with my kids and understand that this park caters more to bikers and runners (which is FINE but ....) He snapped out "Then get off the bike trail" ... I was shocked and saddened. I did not expect a park ranger to be so hostile. I clearly asked where there were other trails and to do so I had gotten off the trail! I wasn't rude or complaining. I had NO idea as we just moved here a month ago and this was the first time we've gotten out. Anyway, he wasn't helpful only angry at me for some reason. I hope this was isolated incident but it turned me off from ever going there again sadly. Such a shame. There is a nice playground but we can go to a playground anywhere. But if you are a runner with kids in a jogging stroller - you can take a break and let the kids play there. And if you are a biker/runner or fast walker - the bike trail is awesome. Very peaceful. I just hope that the park rangers can take a moment and be a little kinder to new people. Especially, a mother of two small children who has a lot on her plate and only expected a little kindness from someone who's job it is to...
Read moreOne of my favorite walking places in Fayetteville. Paved walking path going either towards the river (about 1.5 mi) or along the River, ending at the Jordan Soccer Complex (4 mi). The path is open during covid, no water stations. A few portapotties provided on the 4 mi stretch. Playground is closed for COVID but people were still using it. Plenty of parking. Mixed shade and sun on the path. If you go towards the soccer complex, there are lots of pretty bridges and a waterfall but you have to go about a mile through a kinda uglier patch through a neighborhood and construction site. I prefer to start at the other end, at the soccer complex, and go towards Clark park since I don’t usually go the full 4 miles (8miles round trip). There’s a nature center, but it’s been closed for COVID every time I’ve been there so I can’t comment on it. There are also mountain biking trails that go off the four mile stretch, but I haven’t used...
Read moreWonderful place to exercise, take photos, spend time with family and enjoy nature in general. Multiple paved and unpaved trail options for hikers and bike riders alike. The Nature Center looks small but is museum quality inside. Animal feedings and other nature classes are available and offer great opportunities for educating children. The displays are constantly being updated with a variety of fun learning tools. We took our five year old daughter here for her first time camping overnight as well and had an amazing time. The camp site is well maintained with optional fire pit and functional outdoor bathroom (solid building, not port-a-jon). Mostly, we go here to walk our dogs and enjoy play dates with other families at the children's playground. We really appreciate all the facilities offer and the quality of service. Highly recommend taking your family...
