The trail to Diamond Point begins at the Fern Creek Trailhead. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. The first part of the trail winds through a forest of rhododendron and hardwood trees. After about a mile, the trail emerges from the forest and you will be treated to your first glimpse of the New River Gorge. The views only get better as you continue along the trail.

I recommend wearing comfortable hiking boots or shoes that are water resistant in the least. The views are the most amazing views I have seen in a long time. Looking out over the new river was spectacular. Right across the river you can just make out one of the long abandoned buildings of the Kamoor mines. Extremely dangerous Cliff edges don't bring your dog here even though you can don't do it East Cliff edges are 800 to a thousand feet tall with loose Rocky sand edges that are extremely slippery and very dangerous to an animal that is not used to walking in these conditions. You can die on this Trail if you are not paying attention.
