We went to the farm the second to last weekend of the season. We went on a Sunday so we did expect it to be busy. When we got there, the parking lot was packed. The price was good and gave you nearly full access to all of the activities, and there were a great deal of activities and games to choose from. With that being said, because they were included in the wrist band, there was no staff managing the activities. The jumping mats were FULL of kids all ages, on the younger childrenâs side and the older ones. There were way too many children on the mat at one time, and there were no time limits or rules on what could be done. No staff was managing the activity on the mats, so there were teenagers doing full on gymnastics back flips across the entire mats, nearly kicking MULTIPLE children. Kids were sprinting across the mats, plowing through the younger kids and toddlers trying to jump. The slides were fun and had a BUNCH of people waiting, but people kept going over and over again once they got a burlap bag, so the people waiting in line could NEVER get a bag to slide with. There was no âtaking turns.â Again, this is where staff could be managing it to make it fair for everyone. The corn maze was huge and had potential, but since it was end of the season, it hadnât been maintained, so you couldnât tell what was a trail or a path someone made through the corn. The lines were long for all food options, but that was expected since we went on a weekend. Iâve always loved family farms and fully expected it to be crazy and not 100% since it was end of season. The childrenâs activities were honesty dangerous, though, and there needs to be better management across the board on all âfree activities.â I was worried for my nieceâs safety with every activity we did. We may try again next year, weekday at the beginning of the season. It has a great deal of fun but needs more staff presence. Felt like it was run by...
Read moreEnjoyed my first visit to Lyon Family Farms! We focused on the things that would entertain the two two-year-old boys who were with us, so there will be other things to enjoy in the future when they are a little older. The Jump Pad is huge! (Like the floor of a Bouncy House with no walls.) Tire Mountain is constructed of large tractor tires filled with sand. The sand, toy trucks, and digging tools entertained the boys for quite a while. The Monster Slide (a tube slide near Tire Mountain) was tall enough to allow for an exciting, quick trip down. The tube is large enough for adults to accompany nervous two-year-olds on their first trip down. After that first trip, the two-year-olds were excited to go down on their own. We adults enjoyed it as much as the kids did. The Tire Tornado, a large Tire Swing that also spins, is large enough for adults and kids. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals on our way to let the boys ride the Cow Train. After that, we enjoyed the pig races at Brisket Speedway. Four piglets run three races around a short dirt track to the delight of all in attendance. The hostess hands out four disks numbered one through four. The child holding the winning pig's number wins a pig nose to wear. If your child doesn't have the opportunity to win one at the races, don't despair! Pig noses are available for purchase at the gift shop. It was a hot afternoon, so we didn't feel like eating, but there's a variety of food available, and there are two large covered pavilions with picnic tables. Of the things we experienced, the only thing I can't recommend is the lemonade. It was a good size for the five dollar price tag, it just...
Read moreThis was the best pumpkin patch I've ever been to. We drove an hour and a half to get to Taft for the sole reason of going to Lyon Family Farms. I knew what to expect for the most part as I already checked out their website before we went. Upon arrival it does seem a little spendy. Once we were inside and got to experience a little of what we had we realized it was worth the money for sure. We brought our daughter who is almost two and she had a blast! We stayed for almost three hours and could have stayed longer. The corn bins with toy trucks in was her favorite. The tiny cow train ride was another hit. The slides she loved as well as seeing the animals. We bought food upon arrival to feed the animals but most were already to full to eat it. My only real downside or concern about Lyon Family Farm was their calf they have there. He looked very ill. He obviously was fed way to much sweet feed and was not feeling okay, yet they just kept letting people feed it. The calf was much to skinny and flies were all over the sick calf. I hope this issue has already been addressed. Other then that the experience was wonderful. I would also like to add the very welcomed surprise of the changing/nursing room. It was really a breath of fresh air while having to change my little one. This time last year I was breastfeeding and the nursing area would have been so amazing. It was greatly appreciated!!! We hope to make Lyon Family Farms a yearly tradition...
