Let me start off by saying there are some awesome teachers and staff here, BUT you do have that slim group that makes the overall experience not so pleasant. I've always heard rumors around campus that some ethic groups can be treated a little unfairly, but I had not experienced it first hand until recently. I was treated very rudely by a staff member and I did report it. Of course I was given the standard apology in which I expected, but I felt like everything else was followed up with fluff about policies of the campus. I'm sure do to confidentiality I would not be told whether this person had any disciplinary action or not. I'm sure nothing happened and that is just my personal opinion. This was not the first time I had been encountered with an unpleasant response from this same person. I would not even go as far as saying do not attend this campus, because it is some positive things and people at the campus. BUT make it a last choice if you other options. I am here for one purpose only and that's to obtain a degree in which I will Do, but it is always nice to be respected by employees of an organization where lots of money is being spent. At the end of the day if there aren't any students they would not be...
Read moreI met some very friendly students, faculty, and staff here. However, they do not give much in scholarships and the price of tuition for instate, living off campus, will run you over $33,000 a year. If you live on campus, it will run you around $50,000 a year with tuition, room and board, and a meal plan. That doesn’t include the expensive parking permit, textbooks, or supplies for class. The education you receive is really not worth it for that price. I only attended this university for one year, then I transferred out. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy any of my textbooks from the bookstore unless it was absolutely necessary and I wouldn’t have purchased monarch dollars for food. They do not have a rental program for their textbooks. So, most of the time you will have to purchase all your books as new. It is way cheaper to purchase your textbooks off of amazon. It is not impossible to go here but you may end up in a LOT of debt. The facilities are very modern like and clean, and there are always tons of activities going on...
Read moreThe campus Police and Security DON'T KNOW THE LAW here. NC Statute states § 14-269.2 section (K) if you have concealed carry handgun holder, you can keep your handgun in your car. These officers have made statements that "No one can have guns on campus, to include federal officers and deputies." The security here is power hungry and it is scary because they will call the police on you for legally carrying a firearm in your car... Legally... If you don't know, when the police hear "firearm on campus" they come guns out and ready, regardless of the law.
I saw the other comments on here about security and it's true. Be careful around the security and law enforcement on this campus. The clerk at the police station stated the same thing "No firearms on campus! Even if they are licensed or with another agency." Which again, is...
