This was my first visit to the Ridge Nature Reserve. I noticed immediately the park was very clean. We parked near building that had restrooms. The restrooms seemed clean and well stocked of toilet paper. There are a few notices tacked on the building. Please be sure to look at the trail map on the other side of the building. Trails are color coded trails. You can choose the trail you want. My advice, if you are not familiar with the trails, use your cellphone and take a picture of the map for a reference if walking the trails. Some trails are longer than others. My group of 3 choose the long blue coded trail. The trail was well marked. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Along the trails are markers with numbers. Basically, it says, if there is an emergency, call 911, and give the marker number. I like that feature! Because one never know when an emergency will arise. Enjoy your walk at your own pace! We were walking the trail for about 90 minutes. Beautiful cool and refreshing morning to enjoy nature and get some exercise! When we came out from the trails, we found ourselves walking the gravel road back to where our car was parked. We noticed a picnic area. It was very clean and had plenty of trash cans. We also noticed signs about walking your pet. The trails are dog friendly. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. What would I improve? Occasionally have a park bench on the longer trails for resting. Also for those that didn't take a picture of the map, post a map at some of the numbered markers. While we were there, we didn't notice any forest ranger or park employee. I would've liked to have seen an employee if I had questions. Overall, the nature reserve park is beautiful serene, clean and quiet! We...
Read moreBeautiful nature trails tucked away but close to restaurants, shopping, etc. They have restrooms and a picnic area which is a plus. However, I only found one trail map near the picnic area and it didn't have all the trail names listed. Needs to be updated. There are numerous color coded markers on the trees indicating which trail you are on, however, when you come to a dead end or intersection, it's not always clear which way to go to stay on your trail as opposed to getting sidetracked onto another. I took a picture of the trail map and had to reference it a few times to make sure I was going the right way. As someone mentioned, these trails are isolated, so if you are running alone, you should take protection, such as mace, with you. One final note, wear mosquito repellent! It's ok if you are moving the whole time, but if you stop to take in the scenery, you'll probably get attacked! Overall, great place to run,...
Read moreThe Ridge is a nice little park for an easy hike, biking or just to have a quick, peaceful getaway in the middle of civilization. However, for those who live on this road it it is anything but peaceful on weekends or special events. It is a constant parade of cars up and down this once quiet subdivision road. Some really enjoy sharing their very loud music with the whole subdivision while they go to and from the park, and some just don’t believe the stop sign or speed limit applies to them. I enjoy the outdoors, loud music and having fun just like all those going to the Ridge, but please remember this road runs through a residential neighborhood. I realize residents of this neighborhood also may do the things previously mentioned, but now it’s exponentially multiplied. Ironically, a park dedicated to enjoying nature and protecting habitat has ruined the...
