Don't try and go here during the winter, the road to it is closed down you will get stuck. Luckily a nice guy with a plow on his truck and a cop helped me get unstuck. Great people thank you!

I just have a question.... How do you get there? I got to the two track but can cars go down there or is for ORV/ATV/UTV only?

Amazing wilderness area. If you're looking to take adventures through Pure michigan here is a good place to start.

I have always loved the outdoors, and when I am the furthest distance OUT of the doors (of the city) is when I am the most at peace. I drive in from Minneapolis suburbs. I drive through Crystal Falls and keep going another 15-20 miles into the wilderness where the forest is as thick as a rainforest. There are not many places to stay there. I rent a cabin my Dad took me to for decades a week at a time. I stay right near the reservoir with Iron Mountain dominating the sky above the dense treeline. Due to the very low population in that area the Walleye fishing is the best I know in America. A few nights a week, late at night when the Mosquitoes go back to sleep I take my boat to the middle of that huge reservoir and lay back and I am always amazed at how many stars there are in the midnight sky. We can't see them when we are anywhere near a city from the bleed-over light of a city night. I let my boat drift as I lay back staring at the continual blanket of 1000 x more stars then I ever see and listen to the wild animals howl in the night. It is so quiet with no cars anywhere nearby that the animal sounds carry clear across the lake. Shooting stars are one after the other, so your first time bring a long list of wishes. Out there I have no bills, doctor's appointments, work (unless cleaning fish is work?), I forget what stress is. It is like heaven...I just...

Stayed at the state park for three nights. Parks and recreation pass requiremented to stay the night. First night was clam except the neighbors partyed a little. Next two night. Around midnight or one o'clock in the morning. We heard some wolves find there dinner for the night. It was loud and you could hear the distress of the dying animal. Cool, but at the same time. It reminds you of the...

The Crystal Falls State Forest is absolutely gorgeous. We love exploring the forest. If you love being outdoors enjoying it (snow mobiles, fishing, hunting riding buggies, etc) then you also will enjoy this State Forest. The roads are well maintained all year round. Even in the winter. Get out and enjoy nature. We recommend this...
