first of all....we held my daughters birthday at the pavilion's just off the beach..by the playground..in spring, it was a nice warm sunny day..the $ to rent the buildings for the day was ok, the water wasn't to chilly, even though we only wanted to splash around in the water, every thing was fine until...my toddler daughter stepped on a fishing hook!..on the beach..i was mortified...there are clearly marked signs saying no fishing! i understand in off seasons when the park is closed ppl might do ice fishing or what ever..but this incident has traumatized me, and left me scarred...i can't go barefoot near water any more, nor can i even think of going back to this park..bci just can't fathom being witness to any more kids stepping on fishing hooks ( it's rare, yes, i know.)...i'd love to go do some mountain biking, since it's the only bike park for miles...but just the name of the park leaves a bad taste in my mouth...sadly..i'm just glad it didn't go into her toe...
Read moreNice park, but don't waste your time driving there at night because it will be closed early or you will be chased out by an older cop who decides the parks hours based on how he feels that day. For the past 3 years, the nice sheriff would close it 30 minutes after sunset. The last 4 times we've gone, an old cop is closing the gates between 7-8 pm, irregardless of sunset times. We arrived at 7 pm and he told us park is closed. I asked why so early, and he said "It's almost dark" (on a cloudy day when sunset was 8:30). Then we arrived at 7:35 and he said he was closing in a few minutes (sunset was at 9:05). Sometimes he says it closes at 8, but if you arrive at 7 and it's cloudy or not too busy, he says he's closing turn around. This cop gets joy kicking taxpayers out when he feels like it. Maybe it's past his bedtime at 7? What a waste...
Read moreSomething needs to be done.....Handicap accessibility of the bathrooms by the top pavillion is not there....to go to the restroom with my family member who has cerebral palsy and is in a power wheelchair was a back breaking ordeal. The wheelchair weighs 431 pounds and the adult eith cerebral palsy in the chair is 170 pounds so that totals 601 pound to lift up onto the concrete platform of either restroom. My other family member walked around and saw no ramping for a wheelchair. This is against ADA compliance especially being a public place. Beautiful pavillion and playground but no handicapped equipment on the playground. So disgusted...
