I’ve spent a lot of time in this park since I moved here going on 18 years ago. There’s really a lot to like about it! However, I went for the first time as a mom, and I realized it’s a different place for me now. Softball games, volleyball tournaments, going for walks, throwing a frisbee, having picnics, meeting up with the car club buds: all fun, and this is a great place for all of that and more! However, bringing a small child out to the playground hits different, as they say these days. We had a good time today, as my little one made friends, and enjoyed the playground equipment in spite of it being designed for kids age 5 and up (there is a sign posted right next to it stating this, but once a little one is out of the car and on the playground, there’s no leaving until they’ve made good use of it). I stood for most of our visit since I had to help my brave little one climb the big kid stuff, but I enjoyed seeing her so happy, and I got to meet some other parents. What will hinder our return, at least to that particular playground (there may be others in the park, and I will be looking to see if there are), is the ball field right next to it. When no kids are in earshot, I have a pretty colorful vocabulary, but I do keep my mouth clean for my daughter and all other kids, that’s just how I am. Unfortunately, the entire time we were at the playground, I had to try and distract my little one from the obscenities that were broadcasting loud and clear from the ball field just yards away. There was a lot of cigarette smoke blowing on us too, something I didn’t expect to encounter on a playground. Other than that, I liked that there were bathrooms (though I did not see the insides of them), and plenty of seating and tables all right there on and next to the playground. With no one on the ball field, this would be a great...
Read moreAwesome park off of the meremac river in the city of fenton. This park is a sports complex with picnic tables, water points, and a very nice trail to walk, bike. Or skateboard on. There are different parking locations throughout the park so if you dont want to walk a lot then park closer. This park is in between two parks george winter park and I think the other is lang park. There is a golf course adjoining this park. The trail actually has q lot of shade an benches to sit on. There is also a bird watching field with two or three big bird houses on poles. The kids areas are in shade and soft ground. Very quite atmosphere with no loud music. This park is also a host to a lot of poneman to catch or balls to find. There is also a very beautiful memorial remembering lost Soldiers as well as 9/11, Pentagon, personnel. You can buy a brick for a loved one lost in combat or bench or tree as a remembrance. This park is very special and very beautiful. I would recommend this park to all my friends. This park hosts soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, horseshoes, volleyball and a beautiful view of the meremac river. Come...
Read moreI truly enjoy the walking path here though almost every single time I visit, which is several times a week, there are always people who allow their dogs off leash in the park, while others bring their aggressive dog(s) that charge after my dog who is obedient and well behaved while walking on the path. There is a local ordinance against having your dog off leash but unfortunately no one enforces it. Even in the adjacent city park on the Fabic property it seems no one enforces the leash laws. I've resorted to keeping dog deterrent pepper spray on a wristband while I'm there with my dog after having so many encounters with bad owners who refuse to control their aggressive dogs or allow...
