Fernan Lake — Attraction in Fernan Lake Village

The lake is amazing for fishing, swimming, or boating; however it is not too friendly towards paddle boarders and kayakers with its large waves and generally cold water. I personally love the lake whether I am fishing, boating, or just having a picnic however i still remember the time that I was there and I heard what I thought was someone saying help loudly but then i didn't hear anything and thought nothing of it. I then heard what was definitely someone saying help and i climbed a small cliff and saw what looked like an overturned kayak far out in the middle of the lake. The woman was thankfully pulled out of the lake by some nice boaters and she turned out fine in case any people reading this...

Fernan lake has decent fishing from the shore, and from a boat. Some of the people here can be pretty rude but it’s just the world we live in. The crappie fishing is usually good but the past years haven’t been as fun with how packed the lake is getting. The south end of the lake has more and more Lilly pads every year. If you travel past the lake you can go up the mountain into some good ATV trails and some decent hunting at the right times of year. Beautiful and less traveled spot to get out on the lake for paddle sports or fishing. Check local news and so on for the current conditions as the lake has occasional issues with blue green algae.
