Beautiful place to be. There is a small per person fee to enter the park [$2.00 per person]. So much to do here. They have a nice huge asphalt parking lot. You can fish off of the old bridge. It's similar to pier fishing. It is a bit of a walk and I would suggest light tackle or a fishing cart. Many people even rig their bikes with gear to help with the load. The fishing can be very rewarding as many spices of fish are often caught here. Also you have the ability to take 4x4 vehicle out along the river and around the point to the ocean side. The entrance is generally pretty soft sugar sand and along the river if it is high tide it is also very soft. They do close off different parts of the park to vehicles during different times of the year for the nesting birds. My favorite thing about this park is the uniqueness. You can watch many spices of birds around the park, there is a horse ranch on the property and the often do horse rides down the beach and of course the great fishing opportunities. Its a beautiful place to go and soak up some sun rays and relax and enjoy some of the east...

Awesome place to go! The park is well maintained and very clean, it's only $2 per person to get in and it's on the honor system, you stop at the payment box get an envelope detach the permit put the money in the envelope drop it in the box and then hang the permit from your rearview mirror. As you leave the parking lot (you will need a 4x4 or AWD vehicle) and head towards the Beach you will be on the channel side on the southern end of the Island as you go around the point you come to the ocean side and it's a great place to go swimming and spend the day with your family and friends. It's regularly patrolled by the sheriff's department but there are no lifeguards on duty, the water is shallow and gradually gets deeper the further you go out from the shore line. I highly...

Amelia Island State Park is on the south end of Amelia Island. The entrance fee is $2 per person. I have been here a couple of times and my favorite thing is to access the more remote areas by four wheel drive vehicles. Most of the beach areas can be reached by horseback or 4X4. The times that we have visited, the more remote areas were not crowded. There are lots of shore birds to see. Many people enjoy fishing from the beaches. There is a horse ranch that provides beach/trail rides around the park. Please follow the posted signs, stay off the dunes, and be aware of the tides. At high tides there is much less room to drive. This is a great park to visit, enjoy the beautiful seashore, and get that Jeep away from the mall!
