This is one of the most scenic VT State Parks in the Champlain Valley. Its located a few miles off the main highway and the entrance is a longer narrow dirt road. The facilities are clean and its my understanding the buildings are available for rent for events etc. You can swim off the pier and kayaks are available. The water in the bay is generally calm for easy kayaking and you can see lots of boats in the lake. There is a nature trail in the woods with plenty of openings with ledges offering awesome views of both the lake and the NY shoreline. The lake is at a fairly narrow point in this area relative to the rest of the lake. The 1-2 mile trail can be a little tricky to navigate in certain spots but overall its not too difficult, and you have a few trail options. Parking is plentiful and the open lawn area is always very well maintained. There are grills available for cookouts or picnics and a few picnic tables are available throughout the grounds. Kingsland Bay State Park is located close to Mt Philo as well so you could visit both places within...

Apparently making a wedding reservation here does not mean that you get the whole park. This meant that random people were coming in and invading my best friends' wedding. As well, I must point out that several of the employees were very much high.

Asking questions prompted a blank stares, a few seconds of contemplative thought, and maybe a cohesive answer; this is assuming that you didn't have to ask your question again several times because said employee(s) didn't understand your question during their purple haze.

As well, there are no trash receptacles. What kind of park DOESN'T have at least one trash deposit?!

I can't recommend staying away from...

Great spot for a quiet dip/walk/bbq. We went on fourth of July and it wasn't very crowded (we left by 2pm) . Polite, friendly people bbqing and swimming. There's a long grassy area with lots of shady spots. Easy swimming off a dock with ladders. Clean, compostable toilets. It also has ample parking. It's a bit pricey ($5 per person, NOT vehicle) but fine for just us. There wasn't a place to ride bikes except on the road with cars and there's no sandy beach area. Can't...

Wonderful lakeside location for family outings, with adequate facilities and parking. The “beach” is a large grassy area where folks can spread out and enjoy a casual day on the water. Some picnic tables are available but get there early on weekends as the place fills up in summer. During the week, it is much less crowded.

It’s a nice quiet pretty area with some history. It took a long single road from the main road to there. Made it feel like entering into the past. It also appears to use for boating deck. There are few houses on the land however closed to the public on that day
