This place was fantastic! A hidden gem for sure! We were blown away that it is completely free to visit. The Visitor's Center is so cool with lots of taxidermy as well as live animals. While you can't touch a lot of the things on exhibit, there are plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning! We only spent a small part of the day and mainly wanted to see the birds of prey exhibit. We were not disappointed! It was amazing! So many beautiful birds. I loved how the signs explained each bird's story so you could understand why it is better for them to be in captivity than out in the wild. Most (if not all) have injuries that prevent them from being able to survive and hunt in the wild. I wish we would have had time to explore all of the trails. If I lived in the area and had kids, I would visit often! Highly recommend if you love nature or have kids who do! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well as my two teenagers. It's not just for the little kids! The staff was also very helpful...
Read moreThis nature center is located in the southern suburbs of Holland. The facility appears fairly new and is well maintained. The staff at the visitor center are very welcoming and pleasant. The entire area is filled with nature trails, wildflowers, and wildlife. Near the visitor center, there are small animal exhibits featuring rabbits, a porcupine, a fox, owls, and more. In the northern section, you’ll find birds of prey, including eagles and additional owls.
There is also a playground with a fun zip line, making it ideal for family activities. Throughout the park, you’ll find modern restrooms and drinking fountains, allowing you to enjoy nature without sacrificing modern conveniences.
One area for improvement: I wish there were more shaded areas along the trails. Overall, I’m highly impressed with this place—and best of all,...
Read moreThe outdoor Discovery center was a great way to spend a few hours today. The visitor center was full of great taxidermy and explanations of not just the local area but much of Michigan and outside of Michigan as well. Things for kids and adults to touch and explore. The trails are wide and long and there is lots of walking to be done, and also great natural habitats to explore. the trails are well-marked and there are many informational signs along the way. as an angler I really appreciated the many lakes and ponds and descriptions on the watershed and how that feeds into the fish populations and activities around the area. there is also a nice catch and release fishing pond, which I thought was a great addition. I also thoroughly enjoyed the raptor center with a large number of predatory birds that you can get close to and...
